Polar bear safety course.

Polar bears are the kings of the arctic and being in the field with them requires a large amount of respect and care taken towards ensuring the safety of both humans ans bears.

This course is a natural addition to the Basic firearms safety course and is aimed directly at guides or expedition members having their mind set on the arctic.

During this course we will go over most aspects to operating in the arctic and about polar bears in general, in an effort to understand them better.

  • Biology, yearly rhythms and life history.

  • Differences in legal status depending on country.

  • Searching and scouting - Find the bear before it finds you!

  • How to avoid conflicts with bears, depending on type of expedition and equipment at hand.

  • Using less than lethal equipment and legal options depending on country.

  • Planning field activities in polar bear territories.

  • Safety concerns during movement and at standstill.

  • Camping and overnights in the arctic.

Course content is an intensive day of 8-10 hours of instruction.

Courses can take place many places in Europe, ask for dates and location options.

Instructor to participant ratio: Max 1:4.

Price: 1000 Euro if group of min 4.

Price for smaller groups or individual upon request.
